At Patternmakers, our Research Analysts are the heart of the team. They work directly with clients like festivals, museums and government agencies, conducting qualitative and quantitative research, and finding insights that change the world.
Right now, we are looking to appoint a Senior Research Analyst in a full time capacity. It’s a remote role, with regular travel and perks like company retreats and work-from-home allowances.

Job Description:
Job title: Senior Research Analyst
Purpose of the position: To manage projects and conduct quality research on topics related to culture, creativity and community.
Supervisor: Manager, Research and Insights
Load: Full-time
Salary: $80,000-$90,000, plus super and allowances
Location: Remote, with some travel. Ideally located near one of our existing Patternmakers team hubs in either Melbourne, Sydney or Northern Rivers NSW.
Main responsibilities:
Managing research projects on a day-to-day basis, with detailed project plans, to ensure the team meets agreed milestones
Conducting fieldwork, including administering surveys, interviews and focus groups, to ensure robust data is collected
Leading analysis and reporting for clients, including of quantitative and qualitative data, and drafting concise reports to communicate insights and recommendations
Supporting business development activities, including the design and planning of client projects, including detailed methodologies
Maintaining technical skills and supporting the team to work ethically, navigate key business risks and meet regulatory requirements
Training junior staff in research processes, project management and methodologies
Working with other team members and collaborating on key administration, content and communications tasks.
Skills and characteristics:
Very strong analytical abilities – asking questions and identifying insights and solutions from information
Impeccable attention to detail and ability to check documents for errors and ensure accuracy and quality
Abilities in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies
Excellent communication skills and an ability to write and speak about complex topics in plain English
A friendly, positive, professional approach when dealing with clients and a can-do attitude when taking on a range of tasks
Highly organised with strong time management skills and the desire to work independently from home most of the time
An ability to multitask and work flexibly under tight timelines
Prior experience and education:
2 Years + prior professional experience working in market or social research and analysis
Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area such as psychology, social sciences, commerce
A strong record of achievement – e.g. professional accomplishments, academic record at school or university
Maintenance of The Research Society membership or similar.
Further information:
Patterns of working vary around client and sector needs, with team retreats/intensives held biannually or quarterly.
Allowances will be provided for technology expenses and working from home - and you will be responsible for designing and maintaining a home office/workspace that you love, along with your own smart phone, laptop computer and high speed internet. We provide the online software applications you require for your role.
This role will have a high level of interaction with clients, partners, staff and suppliers during business hours, including school holidays. The general expectation of working hours is 9-5 Monday to Friday but we are open to flexibility around core hours.
